"Meet Kitty Cornershot" - * dramatic song* lol!

(NOTE: That vid might seem a joke but it's actually true, hilarious either way lol)

If you want to get extra info on the CornerShot take a look at my older High Tech and Curious Weaponry thread where I post info on unusual military hardware:

Definitely, firing behind cover is essential on today's battlefields, specially since the proliferation of automatic weapons begun.

Automatic weapons were produced and distributed like candy during the Cold War, this resulted in HUGE stashes of guns being deployed all around the world (not to mention the growing black market armaments).

Firing behind cover is that much vital if we are to enter a heavy gunfight (special deep in enemy territory, the kind of spec ops mission pale ).

The CornerShot can be considered to be the modern counterpart of the WW1-era "Periscope Rifle" design (standard rifle along with a board and mirror periscope, specially to avoid "sticking the head out" of the trench (which usually meant to literally "lose" it pale).

During both World Wars, soldiers with special/extensive weapon knowledge usually modified their weapons to be able to fire around the corner or over the trench, this includes many snipers (many which are true Legends with confirmed Rambo-like bodycounts pale ).

In WW2 there was a particularly interesting weapon which had a similar operation, this can be considered the first assault rifle of this type of special purpose weapons, it was the German StG/MP44 Krummlauf (the German WW2 StG44 or MP44 was the first assault rifle, most probably the best and most sophisticated light weapon in WW2, in fact, it had such a great impact that now all armies's standard weapons are assault rifles).

StG44 (aka MP44):

The StG44 Krummlauf:

I call this weapon the "Horny Gun" for obvious reasons Razz :

Not-so-horny lol! :

:

The Krummlauf had a bent barrel designed for the StG44, and allowed the shooter for looking and firing around corners with its 30 degree barrel and a periscope-style sight.

Recently there was a boom of CornerShot clones in the Middle East, more precisely the Pakistani POF Eye and an Iranian replica.

POF Eye:

Link for more information on the Iranian variant (which is rumored to probably start to get mass produced in the near future), it also shows a Chinese CornerShot style weapon the HD66 which is very different-looking than the Middle Eastern variants:

Unmanned carrier bomber jet unveiled:

By Gidget Fuentes - Staff writer
Posted : Wednesday Dec 17, 2008 14:28:49 EST

PALMDALE, Calif. — The Navy’s plan for its future carrier air wing took a leap into autonomous flight on Tuesday with the unveiling here of a stealthy, bat wing-like unmanned jet.

Dubbed Air Vehicle 1, the X-47B aircraft is the first of what will be two demonstration aircraft built by Northrop Grumman Corp. It was designed to test the idea of an autonomous airplane that would launch and recover on Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and conduct strike and other missions — without the hands-on controls of an onboard pilot. ...

This is really interesting, I've been keeping an eye on the X-47 Pegasus for some time now, I'd say the US Air Force and Navy are already planning to start to heavily employ and include UCAV's (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles) to do attacker roles in the near future (might be one plausible explanation of the fact that so many F-15's / F-16's and even F/A-18's are being completely replaced by much fewer F-22 / F-35's in the future).

Also interesting was the Pegasus's competitor, the Boeing's X-45.

X-45A:

X-45C (mockup):

The C variant kind of looks like a crossing between a B-2 and a Pegasus.

We are also keen on including UCAV's in the mod (to reflect the large-inclusion of unmanned weapons on the battlefield).

I had a fun thought. I don't remember the name of the movie anymore, but in the move there was an experimental UCAV that went berserk when it was damaged. I was wondering if there was some way in the mod that once the UCAV was damaged there would be some random chance that it would go berserk and attack anything that was near it?

Just a thought.

Yeah, we talked about two other fictional planes on that movie:
- F/A-37 Talon (the one the main guy flies);

- Su-37 Terminator (fictional 2 seater variant of the Su-37 "Flanker-F").

Wow, both of those videos were awesome!

Yeah, I liked the way they made Linkin Park's song "Crawling" fit with that war video. Perfect. scuba hand signals

Great vid Thumbs Up!

The MLRS haves a lot of nicknames, the most funny ones (in my opinion) are the "Battlefield Buckshot" or my favorite: "Gypsy Wagon" lol! (it's called as such because the vehicle itself haves a pretty small space for storing goods, and soldiers usually have to pack up stuff on top of the vehicle, a soldier's gotta improvise Laughing ).

lol! Yeah, there are some pretty hilarious nicks for some military weapons, there are usually the more "serious" ones like the "Iron Rain" (MLRS) or the more funny versions "Gypsy Wagon" lol! (it usually depends on the experience that soldiers had with the gear).
