Armored Recovery Vehicle / Tanks

Post  Snake on Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:34 pm

The Armored Recovery Vehicle will be a brand new vehicle class included in TAOW, these will be equipped with engineering equipment and will have the responsibility of fixing allied vehicles and are vital as defensive units, later versions ("Repair/Recovery Tanks") can largely support the player's armored brigades and keeping them in shape for any eventuality.

There will be two distinct types ARV's:

- Medium Armored Recovery Vehicles: Which are the most accessible recovery vehicles and can do basic repair while maintaining a very good armor level, speed and cost.
These can also do many engineering roles;

- Heavily Armored Recovery Vehicles / Tanks: These are the "Big Boys" and are specialized units which are extremely effective in repairing roles.
These are heavily armored but will be slower and more expensive than the medium counterparts.

M88A2 Hercules

Post  Snake on Thu Jan 01, 2009 11:06 pm

The M88A2 Hercules will be the US Army's BIG BOY (even larger and heavier than it's Big Boy, the M1 Abrams). This tank will be a specialized unit which will require a point to be unlocked upon the player's promotion.

This tank can perform swift and very effective repairs and keep allied tanks in shape along the battle. Being heavily armored haves the downside of the slower speed (even though it can roll alongside tank columns).

It's armament will be a general purpose M2 .50 cal heavy machine gun (specially suited for the anti-infantry / anti-light armor roles).

Yup, though there are vehicles which will do the "medium" and "light" roles in addition to their standard roles, for example the M2A3 Bradley (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) is armed with anti-tank weapons (TOW missiles) which will allow it to engage much heavier vehicles, the M1128 Styrker MGS (Armored Fighting Vehicle) haves a 105mm main gun and can do the "medium" role (just some examples), while the M1A2 haves the 120mm gun and heavy armor (Main Battle Tank).

Hehehe, actually, me and Marc were thinking of including that tank in the mod (and other Ukrainian vehicles as well).

During the campaign mode, Ukrainian forces will defend their country (they don't leave their country's defense to international authorities, instead they are taking matters into their own hands, all to keep realism, I mean, they sure as heck wouldn't give their land to their adversaries).

In the Campaign mode for example, depending on the faction the player chooses, the player will have allied or adversary Ukrainian forces (EU and US forces are Ukrainian allies).

During a campaign, there will be more action besides our own (we are controlling our forces in the middle of much bigger conflicts).

The T-84 Oplot will be the Ukrainian Main Battle Tank.
