It's really nice to see some smoke when A-10 GAU-8 fires. like the CWC have done.

Oh yeah! Cool!

Expect a lot of smoke and loud firing sounds for the GAU-8, the way it was meant to be Cool! (plus it's a great way to demonstrate the cannon's massive firepower ).

The GAU-8 Avenger is so important that the A-10 was actually built around it (the A-10 prototypes were designed from scratch to include the weapon).

In the Middle East, the A-10 is perhaps the favorite close air support aircraft of the Coalition Forces, there are many reports of rebel attacks ceasing simply after A-10 support shown up, not only the GAU-8 haves extreme firepower, it also haves an immensely intimidating sound which haves a great psychological impact in the opposition.

The A-10 was built in the 70's but it still is and will continue to be one of the most important aircraft in the US arsenal because of it's unique CAS role and characteristics such as superior maneuverability, exceptionally strong armor and firepower, in short, the A-10 is a true tank of the skies.

The F-35 is set to replace the A-10 in the future but it doesn't possess the A-10's specific capabilities and cannon (since the A-10 was made for this role) so I predict the A-10 will be in service at least until 2030 (such upgrades like the ones on the new A-10C will help the plane to have additional technological features like satellite guided weapons).

After stealth aircraft (such as F-22's or F-35's) gain aerial supremacy of the battle zone (and neutralize all relevant Surface to Air threats), A-10's are called in for the heavy and specialized air to ground support, in addition, the A-10 is one of the most suited planes in the US Military for the COIN (Counter Insurgency) roles, in short, this is an exceptional combat aircraft which haves a major importance in the USAF arsenal.

A-10C will surely won't be replace by F-35, it's capability to kill tanks and provide close air support is unmatch...

Yeah, the A-10 is the best on what it does (plus the new upgrades will keep it in shape for the future).

Just when I thought that the situation with North Korea was calming down the nuclear issue pops up yet again, I wonder what's gonna happen if the situation keeps escalating pale

Many of us dont tho. Most countries and territories around the world signed the NPT [Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty] which basically condemns the use/manufacture of nuclear weapons and calls that all existing nuclear weapons be dismantled and used for peaceful purposes. The only four countries I can remember off hand that arent signed to the NPT are North Korea [suprise], India, Pakistan, and Israel. I believe even IRAN is signed on it but they are shady.

But hey, its not about producing nuclear weapons, its about using. Did you know that if America got rid of 90% of all our nuclear weapons, the remaining 10% could still end the world multiple times?

The NPT Did Play A Role In Peace... But In A World War, The Situation Could Reach DEFCON 1 Or Sometimes Have Authorization To Use Atomic Weaponry A Lot More Common Than These Times... Also Currently The Nation That Houses The Most Nuclear Weaponry Is Russia. Israel Didn't Sign It Because The Shitty Situation With Iran, When It's Over, They Will Most Likely Sign The NPT. However India And Pakistan Didn't Because The Shitty Situation With Each Other. May I Remind Everyone The Varieties Of Atomic Weaponry pale

That is true, but in a world war, im pretty sure MAD would be the only answer. Im sure we all knew that Russia has the most nukes with America at a close second. Not sure if this is true or not but I heard Russia cant even AFFORD to dismantle a lot of their current stockpile, so it sits. Israel will likely NOT signed the NPT [even if in good terms with Iran... which is likely never to happen after being threatened to be blown off the map by Ahmedinajad (sp)] as they have also stated they will not disclose any nuclear information until there is also a chemical/biological free middle east [or at least the countries they have hostilities with...which is like ALL the middle east lol]. India and Pakistan are the nuclear countries I worry about most TBH. North Korean is just blowing steam and taunting like a 6 year old child who threatens to take down 180 muscular teens. Yes, they have a large army... but if they know anything about ancient warfare... numbers isnt enough. And if they REALLY want to do numbers, they should calculate the maybe 15+ nukes they have up against THOUSANDS if not TENS OF THOUSANDS they are up against.

Variety of nuclear weapons are also a big concern of mine... people sometimes forget the effectiveness of dirty bombs, salted bombs, EMP from nuclear weapons, ect. Those, IMO, are sometimes worse than an actual atomic bomb!

Same here.
About the main Nuclear Powers (US, Russia, France, UK, China) such weapons, if ever used, then those would most likely be used either on a MAD or last case scenario (definitely not as a direct attack against another nuclear power, because second-wave nuclear retaliation would be almost imminent).

La Ravenn! wrote:Variety of nuclear weapons are also a big concern of mine... people sometimes forget the effectiveness of dirty bombs, salted bombs, EMP from nuclear weapons, ect. Those, IMO, are sometimes worse than an actual atomic bomb!

Indeed, a well placed EMP, for example, can cause massive monetary and material damage in comparison to a conventional nuclear strike.

Here's a very interesting pic, which also shows information about the number of nuclear weapons:
